One Man Animation Shop Wins 2007 Public Service Emmy Award

The award is for its "Big Fun with Global Warming" cartoon which is licensed to the Sierra Club website. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences awarded the Emmy at its "Humanitarian, Public and Community Service Emmy Awards" ceremony on Nov. 9 in New York City.

"Big Fun stars a character called Stinky, who has serious doubts about the whole idea of Global Warming. He's a skeptic. Until the impact of global warming hits home with him....literally. "Humor is a great way to make the science behind global warming more accessible and more memorable to viewers," Greene said. Pecos Pictures, Greene's company, created two cartoons for the global warming campaign. Each are 90 seconds in length.

"Mark is a one man band," says Greene's wife and creative partner, Sharron Bower. "He writes, directs, draws, animates, and does the voice over work for his cartoons. He paints the backgrounds. He does it all. He goes into his office and comes out three weeks later with a cartoon," she said. "We hear a lot of weird sounds. It's best not to go in there...," she said laughing.

Pecos Pictures specializes in issues-oriented viral video for the internet.

Last year, Greene's video send-up of Florida Congresswoman Katherine Harris' U. S. Senate Campaign entitled "The Rejected Katherine Harris Campaign Video" won the People's Choice and Jury Prize awards at Huffington Post's Contagious Festival. The video received coverage in the Florida Press and was viewed by over 75,000 people prior to the 2006 election.

"Its a very humorous, sarcastic look at her candidacy, but it also includes what we believe to be factual information about her actions as Florida Secretary of State before and during the 2000 election."
